Summer Vacation Spending Tips

It’s almost summer, and a lot of people are already looking at vacation options. Enjoy a vacation, but make sure it doesn’t hurt your financial health.

Perhaps the best financial step to take when look at vacation options, is to calculate how much vacation you can afford. Overspending on a vacation just leaves people with financial stress as they deal with subsequent credit card debt, or trying to make the house payment or car payment.

Consider off-peak travel. Summer is typically the most expensive time to travel, and hotels, resorts and attractions can certainly reflect that in their pricing.

Take some of your own meals, drinks and snacks. Taking some of your own food and drinks can significantly cut down on that expense, as hotels and resorts can charge outrageous prices.

Let your bank know when and where you will be traveling. This will prevent any overzealous security from blocking your attempts to use your cards.

With just a little planning, you will be able to enjoy a vacation getaway, but without breaking the bank!
